ARL Prototype Championship

One of the most entertaining and competitive GTP and LMP2 leagues on iRacing is returning, as the ARL Prototype Championship launches its 8th season! The series is hosted on Thursday evenings, features pro and am championships in each car class and is broadcast from ARTV’s Esports Studio!

Following the official series schedule, each round has a 20 minute qualifying (the first half of which is for the GTP drivers, the second half for the LMP2s) and a 60 (or occasionally 75) minute race with a mandatory pitstop. 1 fast repair is available in each race and stewards review any protested incidents in the days after the event. Despite there being pro and am driver divisions in each car class, points are awarded for position in your car class, making battles between pro and am drivers significant.

For the first time, the series will have a chance of rain at each round, although this will be randomised by iRacing, taking into account the time of year and location of the circuit. This means rain is possible at any round but could also be absent for all 10 rounds. The forecast is made available for drivers to see days before the event so they can practice in the most likely conditions.

GTP drivers have the choice between the Acura, BMW, Cadillac and Porsche GTPs (along with any other GTPs iRacing add in the 2024 S4 build) while the LMP2 drivers have to run the Dallara P217. GTP drivers are locked into the car they race in the opening round for the whole season (unless they’re willing to take a points penalty), so they need to run a car that will strong throughout the 10 rounds.

Each circuit in the calendar matches that week’s circuit in iRacing’s IMSA Sportscars official series. Spa is a classic opener before a very short journey across Belgium to Zolder, which will hopefully have received an artwork update from the 2024 S4 build. The Road Atlanta round takes place just a couple of days before Petit Le Mans and is one of our 2 75 minute races, along with Road America. We round out the season with two speed-fests, Daytona and Monza!
