Rounds 16-18 of the championship were held at the fast and flowing Interlagos circuit. Famous for it’s corners, Caipirinhas & Criminals! Thankfully we were all racing from the comfort of our homes!

Qualifying was one of the closest sessions to date, with the ever-rapid Ash Sutton grabbing the pole position by a whisker from Jack Sedgwick and only 2 whiskers from Nicol Foggie in 3rd! Just 1s covered the top (get ready for this) 32 cars!!!

As the first race got underway Sutton and Sedgwick wasted no time and fought tooth-and-nail for the lead in the early laps, until a mistake by Foggie dropped the pair out of lead contention. This allowed Sedgwick to open a gap to Ross Balfour, who had made his way through from 5th on the grid into 2nd place.

Ross Balfour slowly closed in on Sedgwick and brought the chasing pack with him, eventually the top 10 cars were back together and it was anyone’s game.

Finally, Balfour made a move on the inside at Turn 1 and Sedgwick was left to scrap for 2nd with Foggie. This left Balfour able to crossing the line over 3s ahead by the end, but 2nd through to 9th separated by under 3s!

A great drive by XiTE Energy’s Adam Mcnally from 28th on the grid saw him take the top step of the AM podium in race 1.

Race 2 was busy right from the start with a couple of accidents within the first two corners affecting quite a few drivers. Daniel Craft was able to keep his nose clean and set about chasing down Diogo Melro for the race lead.

Eventually contact between the pair (I’ll let the stewards decide who was at fault!) saw Melro drop down the order & eventually finishing 5th, while Craft went through to take the honors.

AM winner this time was Michael Blake who took advantage of a VIP seat on the grid in 3rd position and held onto it well, only losing 1 place through the race.

The Automek team dominated the front of the grid at the start of Race 3 with Martin Sampson leading the way through turn 1. However it was Jason Cooper who led the way for the majority of the race, closely followed by the ever-persistent Nicol Foggie who once again made his way through to the front.

Foggie and Cooper battled throughout and were eventually separated by 0.385s across the line after spending almost an entire lap side by side! It was Foggie who took the spoils in the end, after his consistent pressure eventually forced an error and he made his way through into turn 10.

Overall it was a good race for XVR Sim-Racing as they also scooped the AM victory albeit with the narrowest of margins once again. It was Rich Warmingham who picked up the top spot, ahead of series newcomer Chaz Draycott, with just 0.035 separating the pair over the line

With the main-season now into it’s 2nd half, teams are beginning to take a serious look to the championship standings and beginning to focus on notching up those all important showdown points. At the moment just 4 points separate the top 2 PRO teams, while in the AM’s SmileTime Simmortal seem to have the edge over the AM competition and extended their lead to BoosTED Motorsport, although they did lose a handful of points to Automek Knockhill.
