ARL Sportscars S2

GT4s and TCRs return to ARL for season 2 of Sportscars! Our expanded calendar now extends to ten 60-75 minute races, each hosted on Monday nights. Pro and am divisions feature again, although with points being awarded for overall car class positions this season, each driver has twice as many competitors to beat!

Season 1 of Sportscars was a big success with over 55 drivers participating across the two car classes. Battles featuring 3 or 4 cars would last entire race distances at some rounds (watch a couple of them in the videos alongside and below) and the championship fights in the GT4 pros and TCR ams came down to the final round. The same roster of cars returns for season 2, however this season has a risk of rain for the first time! This is randomised by iRacing, taking into account the time of year and location of the circuit.

At each round, practice launches at 18:00 UK time (GMT+1 for rounds 1-6, GMT for rounds 7-10), with qualifying starting at 19:50. The first 10 minutes of qualifying is dedicated to the TCR class, with the GT4s having the remaining 10 minutes. The green flag drops at approximately 20:10 UK time for a 60 or 75 minute race, depending on the round. Fuel limits are implemented to ensure a pitstop is needed at each round.

Okayama hosts the opening round of the season on the 16th of September with Europe and North America, along with Okayama’s follow Japansese circuit, Suzuka, being visited before the finale at the Red Bull Ring on the 18th of November. Each round is held at the end of an official series week and each track matches that week’s Touring Car or Falken Tyre Challenge circuit. The TBC round 3 will copy the corresponding week from the Falken Tyre Challenge, so either Algarve or a new circuit (Cadwell perhaps?)

Driver champions in the either pro or the am championships in either car class are able to win a 1 year Apex Racing Academy subscription for the series title, while the team champions in each car class win a 1 year team ARA subscription, each worth £250!

Every round is of course broadcast by Apex Racing TV, delivering coverage of qualifying and the race in addition to interviews with their live timing, 3D track maps and professional commentators.

Anyone with a D class formula and/or sports cars license is welcome to join the series, so if you’re a fan of the GT4s or TCRs classes, register now using the links below!
