A duel in Daytona darkness, a street fight in Chicago and a rollick at the Red Bull Ring, were a few highlights in a packed week of action in the Apex Racing League paddock. With no less than five race meetings across a wide variety of categories, viewers on Apex Racing TV weren’t short-changed on action.
Apex Racing League Mazda Cup – Round 5 Interlagos
‘Monday Mazda Madness’ didn’t disappoint this week. Taking to the fickle twists of Interlagos, the ARL Mazda cup aces locked horns for honours in three dramatic fifteen-minute sprints. Testifying to the unpredictability of this one make series, three different race winners emerged by the end of the day. Despite the volatility of the results, Pawel Szymanek remains in control in the title race.
Wave Italy Apex Racing League Prototype Championship – Finale – Daytona
Two titanic tussles for the Wave Italy LMP1 and LMP2 AM championships erupted simultaneously at Daytona. By far, the LMP1 battle raised the temperature in the cockpit most. Defending champion, Alex Salmon, faced an uphill struggle against the might of RLR Abruzzi to retain his title. In LMP2 AM, Keiran Smart and Tim Perry raced bumper to bumper for the entirety of the sixty-minute race. Check out the race replay on demand on Apex Racing TV.
Apex Racing Academy Porsche Cup
For the second night running, a brand-new circuit joined the extensive list of venues used in ARL competition. Chicago street circuit presented a brutal challenge to drivers in the ARA Porsche cup. After a relatively processional race one, no one could prepare for the all-time classic encounter of race two. Without a doubt, this thirty-minute epic rivalled even the most complex thriller novel.
Apex Racing League GT Trophy
Nestled in Austria’s breath-taking Styrian hills, sits the state-of-the-art Red Bull Ring. Backed by the energy drinks giant, this facility is renowned worldwide. With two long straights, the grunt of the BMW M4 GT3s looked ominous. A fascinating game of high-speed chess ensued, with each driver in the lead battle keeping a close eye on fuel usage. This was a race of intellect and cunning.
Wave Italy ARL GT Championship – Round 2 – Imola
After an opening endurance race at Watkins Glen, the Wave Italy ARL GT championship returned to relative normality with a sprint and feature race at Imola for round two of the championship. Boasting a huge grid of both PRO and AM class drivers, this ARL GT season is proving to be the most competitive yet. So far, the might of Corvette has come to the fore and seems to be the pacesetter so far. However, the armada of 911 RSRs from Porsche remains well in the hunt at this early stage.
