ARL GT3 Trophy
Qualifying – We’ve made the largest qualifying format change in ARL history. The session has been extended to 30 minutes in length with each of the 3 driver classes occupying the circuit for 10 minutes each. This means the session will contrast the lone qualifying from the official series but only have a maximum car count of 20 at any time to avoid drivers having their laps compromised. The pressure will unquestionably build through the session with the pros setting their laps last, knowing the times they have to beat.
Calendar – Our calendar takes circuits from the GT Sprint VRS Series, IMSA iRacing Series and our own ASUS ARL Endurance Championship, meaning relevant datapacks will be available. The season launches with a special 75 minute race at Spa, only a handful of days prior to iRacing’s 24 hour event at the circuit. The IMSA staples of Road America, Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen return while Jerez and Donington make their series debuts.
Format – 6 of the rounds feature a solitary race, every one of which will require a pitstop for fuel to reach the chequered flag. The other 4 rounds consist of 2 races, the first lasting 25 minutes, the second, 30 minutes. Pitstops aren’t necessary in these races, however the second race does possess an inverted grid, testing the leaders’ racecraft. The series returns to its traditional Tuesday evening slot, with qualifying launching at 18:40 GMT and the first race beginning at 19:10 GMT.
Last Season – We witnessed a remarkable conclusion back in march for the season 5 titles. With Coanda Academy driver, Oscar Py, missing several rounds near the end of his campaign, and with no other driver able to establish dominance over the rest of the field, 4 drivers came into the finale with a chance at the title, including pro am driver Mitchell Drysdale. Despite trailing for much of the race, the American was able to clinch the overall title win, the first pro am driver to do so in ARL history. Frederic Schwartz achieved the double, winning the pro drivers title and teams title with Race Anywhere Simsport. Salvatore Piazzese meanwhile won in the ams.
